Our Story

Sova Design Millinery was created by Sherri Hrycay of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Sherri was always interested in design, but she made her first hats around 2000-2001. Around that time, Sherri bought a hat from Louise Green, of Los Angeles California, and was hooked. With the work of the renowned milliner Stephen Jones as an inspiration, Sherri set out to learn millinery.

How to Choose Your Hat?

To get the best possible fit for your hat, you need to measure your head carefully with a measuring tape. You should measure around your head at a point where you want the hat to sit. Sherri is very good at fitting hats from measurement, but if you feel you have a pointy, or oblong, or wide head, get in touch with Sherri via email our website chat feature!

Sherri has talent and style. Her hats are exceptional quality and look beautiful. They are practical art. There are so many styles that I believe anyone could wear a Sova hat. All they have to do is see Sherri for some help to discover their style. A Sova hat is not a cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all hat. Rather it is custom made for the individual - you! But there are also beautiful hats to take home right away. One time when I went to have Sherri reshape my hat (my fault), I found a beautiful hat there that I had to make my own!
